Snag vs Marker.io: a widget that files to your tracker, or a tracker built for the fix

2026-10-08 ยท Marker.io is a feedback widget and extension with two-way sync to Jira, Linear and others. Snag is capture plus tracker, with mobile and an MCP for coding agents. The right one depends on whether your tracker is the centre of your world.

Choose Marker.io if your issue tracker is fixed (Jira, Linear, Shortcut and the like) and you want a polished widget that drops well-formed reports into it with two-way sync. Choose Snag if you would rather the bugs live where they are captured, with a board that stays light, mobile capture on the same board, and a coding agent that can read the bug and prove the fix.

What Marker.io does well

The widget is clean and the integrations are the point: a report created from the widget or the extension lands in Jira, Linear, Shortcut or another tracker, and status flows back. Reports carry the screenshot with annotations, browser and environment details, console logs and network requests. Plans start at $39 a month (annual) for 3 users, 10 projects and 5,000 pageviews; Team is $149 a month for 15 users, 50 projects and 25,000 pageviews; the annual discount is a third.

Reviewers mention that it is web only, that reporting takes several steps, and that the free plan was dropped; there is a 15-day trial.

What Snag does differently

The tracker is included and stays light. Severity, assignee, labels, releases, ageing; inbox to closed; closed and rejected fold away. Teams without a heavyweight tracker get one that fits bugs; teams with one get Slack, ClickUp and Sentry integrations, though not Marker.io's two-way sync to Jira or Linear.

Capture from the trail, not a form. The extension keeps the last clicks and navigations, console and network in memory; one click files everything with an annotated screenshot. No multi-step report form.

Mobile on the same board. Android and iOS apps, and a share sheet that files a screenshot from any app.

A step trail that becomes a test. With FlowQA in the workspace, a snag's trail becomes a test, and a failing test files a snag. A coding agent connected over MCP reads the snag, fixes, and runs the covering tests before marking it fixed.

Priced per workspace. No pageview caps, no per-user seats.

Pick Marker.io if

Jira or Linear is the centre of your process and two-way sync is non-negotiable.

Pick Snag if

You want bugs captured with their evidence on web and mobile, a tracker that stays out of the way, and a loop where the fix is proven by a test before the bug closes.

Snag captures the screenshot, the steps, the console and the network with every bug, and hands them to the person or the agent fixing it.
