FlowQA vs QA Wolf: a managed QA team or a tool your team runs

2026-10-08 ยท QA Wolf sells coverage as a service, with people who maintain your tests. FlowQA sells the tool, at a published price, for teams that would rather own their tests. Which fits depends on budget and who you want holding the suite.

Choose QA Wolf when you want someone else to own your test suite and you have the budget of a QA hire to pay for it. Choose FlowQA when you want the suite in your own hands, generated by an agent and reviewed by your team, at a price a five-person company can approve without a meeting. Both generate tests from your product and run them in the cloud; the difference is who maintains them and what that costs.

What QA Wolf does well

QA Wolf's managed service is the fullest version of "coverage as a service". Their agents map your product and write Playwright tests, and their team investigates failures and maintains the suite, promising zero flakes. Runs are parallel without limit, across web, iOS, Android and Electron. They also ship a self-serve platform (1 cent per AI credit, 15 cents per runner minute, no seats) and, since late September 2026, an MCP server for Codex and Claude Code. If you want to hand QA to someone and be told when something is wrong, this is the shape to buy.

What FlowQA does differently

FlowQA is a tool, not a service. An exploring agent maps your site, proposes a plan you review, generates the tests and proves each by breaking the page; your team approves the plan and the repairs. Tests run on your own computer for free and on cloud browsers from a monthly allowance. When a page changes, FlowQA proposes one small repair, proven twice, and waits for a person; it never heals a test quietly. It is web only (Chromium), and nobody from us maintains your suite.

It also lives next to Snag, so a captured bug becomes a test from its own trail, a failing run files a snag, and a coding agent works both through one MCP.

Pick QA Wolf if

You have no one to review a test plan, you need iOS or Android coverage, or your budget is sized for an outsourced QA function.

Pick FlowQA if

You ship with coding agents and want the tests, the bugs and the fixes in one loop your agent can drive; you want to own the suite; or your budget is a tool's, not a team's.

FlowQA explores your site, writes the tests, proves them against a broken page, and keeps proving them after every change.
